Alert Bn9665 24052012 02 - sent by Elaine Collingwood, NHW Administrator on Thursday 24th May 2012.
Please pass this message on to all Watch members, as well as family and friends. We are seeing a small increase in opportunist burglaries across Bristol at the moment due to the hot weather and residents leaving windows and doors open.
Please ensure that all windows are kept shut and locked or locked on the clip unless you are actually in the room - it only takes a second for an opportunist burglar to reach in through the window and help himself. Also remember this when you go to bed!
Please remember to lock the front door and any windows in the house especially when you are out enjoying the sunshine in the back garden. You don't want your BBQ spoilt by being burgled at the same time!
Also remember, this applies to your vehicles so please don't leave any valuables on display and remove them completely where possible. Ensure your vehicle is securely locked with the windows closed and do not leave your keys near the front door or in sight.
Let us all enjoy the sunshine without becoming a victim of crime.
If you have information about any crime, phone the police on 101 or you can call anonymously to the independent charity CRIMESTOPPERS 0800 555 111. For general information about Neighbourhood Watch nationally see the www.ourwatch.org.uk website.
